Your account is free forever — and every new account unlocks 14 days of all features, so you can try the full platform before choosing a plan.

1. Create your account

   Click Start free, enter your email and a password (8+ characters with an uppercase, lowercase, number and special character), accept the terms, and pass the quick security check.

2. Verify your email

   Type — or just paste — the 6-digit code we email you. Didn't get it? Check your spam folder; a resend timer runs for 120 seconds, then you can request a new one.

3. Pick a plan

   Choose Free to get going — your first 14 days include every feature regardless. You can upgrade any time from Billing.

4. Land on your Dashboard

   Your command center: images captured, data stored, celestial objects, total exposure time — plus tonight's sky conditions, your best targets, and recent activity.

Upload your first night

My Vault is your file home. Drag in a whole night — folders keep their structure, and astro formats are first-class: FITS, XISF, TIFF, camera RAW, plus JPG/PNG and even your equipment logs.

1. Drag & drop (or click Upload)

   Drop files or entire folders anywhere on the page — subfolders and all. A progress panel tracks every file; uploads run in parallel, so one failure never stops the rest.

2. Create folders with calibration sets

   New Folder can auto-create the standard calibration subfolders — Light, Dark, Flats, Bias, Flat_Dark — a one-click clean structure for a night's capture.

3. Organize like a file manager

   Double-click to open folders, use breadcrumbs to jump back, and right-click anything for Download (folders arrive as ZIP), Rename, Move to, Add to starred or Move to Black Hole. Multi-select works too: Ctrl/Cmd-click, Shift-click, or drag a selection box.

4. Tag it, note it

   Add your own tags and notes to any image or folder — organize the archive the way you think, and find anything again by searching your tags.

View & stretch a FITS

The heart of AstroVault: a real astronomical viewer in your browser — no desktop software, nothing to install. Double-click any image to open it, then page through the whole folder with ←/→.

1. Preview vs. Original

   FITS/XISF files open on a fast, server-rendered Preview — free for everyone, forever. Switch to the Original tab to decode the real file in your browser for full-fidelity work.

2. Stretch your data

   On the Original tab, the Image Controls panel gives you Auto STF (the classic "make the nebula appear" stretch), Linear mode, midtones & shadow sliders, and black/white point fine-tuning.

3. Debayer color data

   Shooting one-shot-color? Pick a pattern (Auto Detect, RGGB, BGGR, GRBG, GBRG) and hit Debayer to bring the color out.

4. Read the real FITS header

   Open the Info panel and expand FITS Header to read gain, sensor temperature, exposure, filter and more — straight from the decoded file.

Track it on AstroBoard

A personal board that moves every target through your real stages: Planning/Capturing → Want to Process Next → Currently Working On → On Hold → Completed.

1. Add a target

   Click + Add Target and give it a name, target type, RA/Dec, a priority, and an optional description.

2. Drag it forward

   Move cards between columns as the project progresses — the board saves instantly.

3. Attach the real data

   Open a card to link its light and calibration frames, stacked masters and final images, and add notes — AstroVault tallies integration time, frames and nights for the project.

4. Revisit finished work

   Timeline History collects every completed project in Timeline or Monthly view.

See it on your Sky Atlas

Complete a project on AstroBoard and it lands here: an interactive star map where your finished images are pinned at their real coordinates, over constellations and the Milky Way.

1. Rotate the sky

   Drag to spin the celestial sphere. The Atlas follows your theme — including Red-Night.

2. Open a pin

   Click any marker for an image carousel of that project's finals, plus date, integration, status and RA/Dec. More Details jumps to the full project view.

3. Watch it fill up

   The Atlas grows as you finish projects — your personal map of everywhere you've pointed your scope.

Plan the next night

Two location-aware tools — free for everyone — tell you whether tonight is worth setting up, and what to shoot.

1. Add an observing location

   In Profile → Location, name your site, type your Bortle class, and pick the nearest city — coordinates, elevation and timezone fill in automatically. A privacy toggle hides your exact spot from view.

2. Check Astro Weather

   Tonight's sky scored 0–100 (Excellent / Good / Fair / Poor) with darkness & moon-free windows, an hourly seeing strip, dominant factors, and a 7-day forecast.

3. Open the Astro Planner

   Your top deep-sky targets for tonight, ranked by a score that blends altitude, darkness hours, moon distance and brightness — with timeline and altitude views per target.

Log your gear & connect NINA^†

Catalog what you shoot with, combine it into named rigs, and — if you capture with N.I.N.A.^† — let a whole night upload itself.

1. Add your equipment

   Under Equipment Management, add telescopes, cameras, mounts, filters, filter wheels, controllers and optics. Mark your guide scope and guide camera with the "Is this a guide…?" option.

2. Build a rig

   Rig Builder combines saved gear into a named setup — telescope, camera and mount, plus filter wheel, guiding and accessories — which you can attach to AstroBoard projects.

3. Connect N.I.N.A. for live upload

   In Profile → Account Settings, create an API key, copy it, and paste it into the AstroVault plugin in N.I.N.A. — your subs land in AstroVault the moment they're saved, hands-off all night.

Plans & your account

Simple model: paid tiers mainly buy storage (10 GB free → 250 GB → 1 TB → 4 TB). Only two things are Pro-gated — everything else is free, forever.

1. Upgrade, downgrade, cancel — no traps

   Upgrades check out securely through Stripe; downgrades take effect at the end of your period; cancelling moves you to Free — nothing is deleted.

2. Your data stays yours

   You keep ownership of everything you upload, and you can export it all at any time — including before deleting your account.
